Stagnate metal is manipulated to create spirit and vibrant motion within each one of a kind representation of the horse. Wringing emotion from metal challenges the artist to reach deeply into imagination and nature. When one realizes that metal and flesh need not be at odds, cutting, bending and welding becomes an act of husbandry. The effort is rewarded and vision becomes real. A form of graceful beauty is captured. But the image is not static, it moves with a frozen urgency of life.
By first capturing the basic gesture of each figure, each one takes on a beauty of its own. The bronze sculptures depict simplicity and beauty in a stylized manner. Each making a statement of their own. Once sculpted they are cast in bronze using lost wax casting, from there they are brought to life by applying specialized heat patinas. Each sculpture is signed and numbered.
